Frequently asked questions
Quick answers to common questions
How far in advance should we begin the stationery process?
For custom and semi-custom stationery, I recommend beginning the design process six to nine months before your wedding date. This timeline allows sufficient time for the design phase, revisions, printing and guest mailing schedules. Couples planning particularly detailed stationery suites or speciality printing techniques may wish to begin even earlier. If your wedding date is approaching, please feel free to inquire, and I will do my best to accommodate your timeline.
What is the difference between custom and semi-custom invitations?
My studio offers two main stationery design experiences. Custom stationery is entirely bespoke and created specifically for your celebration. Every design element - from illustrations to layouts - is developed exclusively for you. Semi-custom invitations are based on existing studio designs that can be thoughtfully adapted through colour adjustments, typography changes and select personalised details. Both options maintain the same level of craftsmanship and attention to detail.
What is included in a custom invitation suite?
A wedding invitation suite may include a variety of pieces depending on your needs. Common elements include: an invitation card, an RSVP card, a details card, envelopes with guest addressing per household, envelope liners, and wax seals or ribbon embellishments if you choose the Embellished Elegance package. If you have a lot of guests travelling from far away, I strongly recommend sending out a save-the-date card as well. Many couples also commission wedding day stationery, such as programmes, menus, place cards, welcome signage, and seating charts to create a cohesive visual experience.
How does the design process work?
The design process is collaborative and thoughtfully paced. 1. You submit an enquiry and complete the stationery questionnaire. 2. We schedule an initial consultation to discuss your wedding vision. 3. A proposal is prepared outlining the scope of your stationery. 4. Once the project is reserved with a design retainer, we begin creating your designs. 5. You will receive digital proofs for review and revisions. 6. After final approval, your stationery is prepared for print and production. Each project is approached with careful attention to ensure the final result reflects the spirit of your celebration.
How many revisions are included?
I include a revision phase to allow thoughtful refinements to your design. I offer two rounds of revisions. These revisions typically cover adjustments such as wording, layout, colour refinements, and minor design details. If additional design development beyond the agreed scope is requested, we may provide an updated estimate for the additional work.
What are your payment terms?
To reserve your project within my studio calendar, I require a 50% design retainer upon acceptance of the proposal. The remaining balance is due once the final design has been approved and prior to printing. Digital templates for DIY couples, on the other hand, are paid in full at the time of purchase.
Do you offer digital invitation templates?
Yes. We have offerings to suit many different budgets. Our digital download collection offers a selection of pre-designed invitations that can be personalised with your event details. These templates allow you to adjust text and fonts while maintaining the original design and colour palette. Digital templates are intended for couples seeking a simpler and more immediate stationery solution; however, the quality of printing cannot be guaranteed, and the experience is transactional.
Can we request custom illustrations or artwork?
Absolutely. Many of our couples choose to incorporate bespoke elements such as venue illustrations, custom monograms or crests, illustrated maps, and personal motifs. These details add a distinctive and personal touch to your stationery suite.
Can we use our invitation artwork for other wedding materials?
The artwork created for your stationery remains the intellectual property of the studio. By all means, keep it and hang it on the wall in a frame as a keepsake! However, if you would like to extend the design across additional items - such as wedding websites, signage, or guest favours designed and printed by a third party - I am happy to arrange a separate artwork licensing agreement.
Do you print the invitations or do we print them ourselves?
For custom and semi-custom invitations, printing is managed through our trusted production partners to ensure the highest quality. This allows us to oversee the details of paper selection, colour consistency, and finishing techniques. Digital templates are provided as downloadable files, which you may print independently if desired.
How are orders delivered?
Once your stationery has been printed and carefully assembled, it is packaged and shipped via registered postal service. Tracking details will be provided once your order has been dispatched.
What if we find a design we love on Pinterest?
Inspiration images are always welcome and can help communicate the aesthetic direction of your stationery. However, the studio is committed to creating original designs, and I do not replicate work created by other designers. Instead, I interpret inspiration in a way that results in a design that is uniquely yours.
How do we get started?
The best way to begin is by completing the inquiry form. From there, I will review your request and arrange a consultation to discuss your vision, timeline and stationery needs. I look forward to learning more about your celebration.
Do you accept international clients?
Yes, I work with couples around the world. Consultations are conducted virtually, and finished stationery can be shipped internationally.
